Title
Penn Yan Central School District
The Challenge
Disparate wireless devices, no centralized WLAN management, unreliable firewall security and federal regulatory requirements
Summary
The Penn Yan Central School District, located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, provides K-12 and adult education for over 2,000 students with a staff of over 500 teachers and administrators. The district’s facilities include an elementary school, middle school, high
school and administrative building. On average, from 300 to 500 individuals log in to the district’s network at any given time. Recently, the district began a $30 million capital renovation project that included implementation of a wireless local area network (WLAN) at its campus-wide facility.
